Need help upgrading my laptop - Acer aspire e5 551g

Hello people,

I'm new here and I really love this forum for multiple reasons.

I need help regarding upgrading my acer laptop. Currently I have 8GB Ram, 120 SSD installed recently. So basically I use this laptop for work and I work continuously like 12 to 14 hours. I was looking for upgrade Ram for better performance. So should I installed an additional 4GB or 8GB ram ? Sometimes I have heating issue as know its AMD..

What do you suggest, should I keep it this way or install ram ?

8GB is ok for 1080p editing, if you're doing anything higher you will need a lot more ram. Back on topic, depending upon what type of work you're doing should dictate any hardware upgrades you need. If you're not experiencing any large slow downs then you probably don't need to upgrade at all. For generall purpose workflows 8GB of ram is plenty. If you do decide to upgrade ram you'll need to make sure your system can support more (most modern laptops can).

The other item you'll need to check is the current memory slot count and what your current memory configuration is. A lot of laptops will come with 2 memory slots; however, manufacturers tend to install 2 smaller memory sticks rather than 1 larger module. It's likely you have...

8GB RAM is enough even if you do video editing. It's not just the RAM that makes a computer work faster, it also matters the CPU.

What is your CPU model?
