Windows 7 Network Diagnostic Problem

This morning I woke up to find that my computer had auto restarted when I was sleeping and installed some software as well.

The problem is, I can't get on the internet now.
I tried restoring to before the update happened(It was a WIndows update and it said t was "critical") and it did but I'm still getting all the same error messages.

There's a red x over the Networking icon in the tray and when I click on it to try and troubleshoot I get this:

An error occured while troubleshooting
An unexpected error has occured. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue.
Package ID:NetworkDiagnostics
Path:C:\Windows\diagnostics\system\networking
Source:Engine
User: Destiny-PC\Destiny
Context:Restricted

If I just click on it I get this:The dependency service or group failed to start.
I'm running Windows 7 on an HP laptop.
It's just the internet, evrything else seems to be working OK.
If anyone can offer any solutions(keeping in mind I really have no idea what I'm doing) I'd be really greatful.

*Oh, I'm posting this from a different computer.

Reboot your router, unplut the router chord from the ac outlet for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
