Do you use Live Messenger? If not, can you uninstall it?

Otherwise, there should be some setting to not show the notices, or perhaps you need to keep it from starting. I cannot give you accurate instructions since I do not use any of the Live utilities.

uninstall it :)
In Programs and Features there is Windows Live Essentials listed and in there is the option to remove MS messenger

Click on the link, and it will take you to your Windows Live profile invitations, decline or accept the invite, problem solved.

Solution
No problem :)
It always has been a bit confusing, but Microsoft is finally clearing that up with Wave 4 of Windows Live Essentials.
Thanks for using the forums, see ya around :)

Oh, and definitely don't reformat before asking the community first next time, eh? ;)
