As an experienced XP Pro user, I am somewhat surprised at what appears to be limitations associated with Win 7 offline file synchronisation process
In XP pro files would sync on log on, log off and as frequently in between as you establised.
However in Win 7 it appears to only sync on log on [and as timed in between] but not on log off - AM I CORRECT?

If so am I also correct that there is a strong potential of losing recently updated network files that when you log off [ie after the last timed sync] and as such are not on the remote/network PC/laptop

Has anyone encountered this problem and more importantly identified a way of resolving it please
Thanks

Happy rest of the day

Kind Regards
Alan

Solution
Alan, it seems you are facing some challenges with offline file synchronization in Windows 7 compared to what you were used to in Windows XP Pro. Here's some information to address your concerns:

Offline File Synchronization in Windows 7:

  1. Syncing Behavior:
    • Windows XP Pro: Files would sync on log on, log off, and at intervals you established.
    • Windows 7: Files sync on log on and at scheduled intervals but not on log off by default.
    []Risk of Data Loss:
    • In Windows 7, if your files were updated and the last synchronization occurred before you log off, there is a potential risk of losing those updates as they may not be synced immediately.

      Possible Solutions:

      Possible Solutions:

    [
]Scheduled Sync: Ensure that the synchronization schedule is frequent enough to minimize the risk of losing updates. []Manual Sync: You can manually sync files before logging off to ensure the latest versions are saved on the network. []Check Sync Settings: Verify the offline files settings in Windows 7 to ensure they are configured to meet your synchronization needs.

    Resolving the Issue:

[]Troubleshoot: Check event logs for any synchronization errors or issues that might be causing the problem. []Third-Party Tools: Consider using third-party synchronization tools that offer more flexibility and control over the sync process.
  2. Group Policy: Adjusting Group Policy settings might provide more control over the synchronization behavior in Windows 7.

    Have Others Encountered This Issue?

    • It's possible that other users have faced similar challenges with offline file synchronization in Windows 7.
    • Forums and support communities might have discussions or solutions shared by users who have encountered and resolved this issue.

    Conclusion:

Ensure your synchronization settings are optimized for your workflow requirements in Windows 7 to minimize the risk of data loss when logging off. Exploring manual syncing options, checking settings, and investigating third-party tools or Group Policies could offer potential solutions to improve file synchronization in Windows 7.
