I have installed and removed a few programs on Win 7 ...

each of these still appear on my taskbar notification area (where I can choose to show icons or not)

How do I remove these?

Solution
I think you may be misunderstanding the OP's complaint.
Try this
1. Open the Start Menu.
2. In the white line (Start Search) area, type regedit and press Enter.
3. If prompted, click on Continue in the UAC prompt.
4. In regedit, go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify

5. In the right pane, highlight both IconStreams and PastIconsStream.
6. Right click on these two and click on Delete.
7. Click on Yes for the confirmation prompt
8. Close regedit.
9. Stop and Restart explorer.exe in the Task Manager. (Or restart your computer)
If you mean right click on the icon and choose Exit for each entry..

the program closes.

I see the icon again when I start the program back up (using twxproxy.exe)

Very good dave,

I had that in the back of my mind however I thought that particular keys as well as the MUI's, BagsMRU, etc were removed after working with the computer for a while.

I truly hope it works, spent a lot of time on this one:rolleyes:

anyone know where is the Registry these icons are stored so I could manually edit out the extra icons

yes,

but knowing how to get rid of anything else would be good too.

I use Zoc daily.

I don't have the problem with Zoc, the TWX icon is the one Im trying to get rid of.

I figured there would be a way to do this thru the registry like Vista.

This is one strange app. I have never seen a stand-alone program put the icon in the notification area.

Try doing a search for TWXPoxy on your computer.
