Windows 7 PC shuts down when coming out of sleep mode

I built this box about 2 years ago and it was running perfect until about last week.

When the PC goes into sleep mode and I try to awaken with the mouse or keyboard stroke the harddrives turn on but the display screen is blank and the OS won't come on. I also notice that the light on my netgear router goes from amber to blank. Normal sleep mode is amber and when the OS comes on it glows green. It seems that coming out of sleep mode shuts down my OS's power.

I have to do a hard re-boot and and then the screen comes on and says "Resuming Windows"

Do I need to re-load Win 7 or is this a motherboard issue? I was unable to use sytem restore to fix this.

Thanks,

Riko

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your PC waking up from sleep mode. Let's troubleshoot this problem step by step: 1. Power Settings: - Check your power settings to ensure that your system is configured to allow the mouse and keyboard to wake it up from sleep mode. Sometimes, devices can be set to allow only some specific buttons to wake it. - You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel: go to "Power Options" > "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings" > "Sleep" > "Allow wake timers." 2. Driver Update: - Update your mouse and keyboard drivers through the Device Manager. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause issues with waking up from sleep mode. 3. BIOS Update: - Ensure that your...

Driver Update: - Update your mouse and keyboard drivers through the Device Manager. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause issues with waking up from sleep mode. 3. BIOS Update: - Ensure that your motherboard BIOS is up to date. Manufacturers often release BIOS updates that address power management issues. 4. Check Hardware: - Test with different peripherals, such as another mouse and keyboard, to rule out any hardware issues with your current peripherals. - Check for any loose connections or faulty hardware components. 5. Windows Update: - Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes a system update can resolve such issues. 6. Power Management Settings: - Go to Device Manager, right-click on your network adapter, choose "Properties," and uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." 7. System File Checker (SFC) Tool: - Run the System File Checker tool to scan and restore any corrupted system files that could be causing the issue. - Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow. 8. Event Viewer: - Check the Event Viewer for any critical errors or warnings around the time your PC fails to wake up from sleep mode. This might provide more insight into the issue. If after trying these steps the issue persists, it might be worth considering a Windows reinstallation or seeking professional help to diagnose a possible hardware issue. However, before doing that, it's advisable to exhaust the software-related troubleshooting steps mentioned above.
