I am using Windows 7 32 bit and I have Intel i3 64 bit.Now when I play video or audio files in either vlc or windows media player(as these are the only i use) playing getting stuck at random position, after couple of seconds it is getting resumed.Between that time both vlc and windows media player is not responding.I also have dual boot ubuntu 11.10 where i use vlc.Same problem is there also.Is it an issue of codec ?Can anybody please give some idea on this ?This is real embarrassment while watching a movie and all.

Regards,
Arka

Solution
Arka, it seems like you are experiencing playback issues with both VLC and Windows Media Player on your Windows 7 32-bit system. The fact that the problem also occurs on your Ubuntu dual-boot setup suggests it might not be related to the operating system exclusively. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Possible Solutions:

  1. Update Codecs:
    • Ensure that your codecs are up-to-date. Installing a codec pack like K-Lite Codec Pack might help resolve compatibility issues.
    []Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Outdated or incompatible graphic drivers can cause playback problems. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version compatible with Windows 7 32-bit...

    ]Check for Software Conflicts:
    • Disable unnecessary background processes that might be interfering with video playback.
    []Check System Performance:
    • Verify that your system meets the minimum requirements for playing these media files smoothly. Check CPU and RAM usage during playback.
    [
    ]Inspect the Files:
    • Check if the files you are playing are corrupted. Try playing different files to isolate the issue.
    []Disable Hardware Acceleration:
    • In VLC, you can disable hardware acceleration by going to "Tools" -> "Preferences," selecting "Input/Codecs," and unchecking "Use hardware-accelerated decoding."
    [
    ]Media Player Alternatives:
    • If the issue persists, you can try alternative media players like MPC-HC or PotPlayer to see if the problem is specific to the players you are currently using.

      Additional Tips:

      • Ensure your system is free from malware or viruses that could be affecting performance.
      • Regularly update your system and installed software to patch any known issues or vulnerabilities.
Try these steps and see if they help improve the playback experience on your system. If the issue persists, further investigation may be needed to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. Feel free to provide more details if you need additional assistance.
