:( I'm a bit suspicious of ATI doing a worse job on antialiasing than NVIDIA, did anyone notice ?

You shouldn't be embarrassed, any specs quite soon turn stone age. Anyway, yours aren't that old, especially the 1st one.

Although not yet complete, this will be my primary system in about 3 months:

    ASUS M4A79T Deluxe
AMD Phenom II x4 (Quad Core) 955 @3.2GHz
    8GB ddr3 1333 (PC3 - 10600)
Cooler Master CM690 Nvidia edition case
Cooler Master Silent Pro M700 700watt Modular PSU

    Still yet to purchase:
SCSI drive for Windows 7 installation
3x SATA drives for data in a Raid 5
Video card. Still up in the air, and will probably go with a Radeon 4890, since my board only supports xfire and not SLI
