Hi all,
I am running Win 7 Ultimate RTM 32bit with Itunes 8.2.1.6.

Almost every time i go to sync my ipod (160gb Classic with @ 140gb songs), it deletes @40gb of tracks and has to resync them again. I have not changed anything except adding a couple of albums. It wasn't doing this with Vista. I have only had 7 for about 2 weeks.
I was prompted to scan disc for errors yesterday, i elected to scan and attempt recovery of bad sectors which took about 4 hrs. I thought that would fix it but lo and behold, i pluged in to sync 2 more albums and it then said 'updating ipod' copying ..... of 4871 files.
While in the middle of updating this message with these details my whole notebook (Acer TM 7720g) froze up, couldn't even ctrl_alt_del so i had to power off, now copying 4900 odd tracks. Darn it....

Any ideas anyone, it is really annoying!
Thanx,
Gavin

Gavin, It seems like you're experiencing issues with syncing your iPod on Windows 7 Ultimate RTM 32bit with iTunes 8.2.1.6. The problem you described where it deletes around 40GB of tracks and then has to resync them again can certainly be frustrating. This behavior could be due to several factors, including software settings, compatibility issues, or even the condition of your iPod itself. Here are some troubleshooting steps you could try to resolve this issue: 1. Update iTunes: Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. Newer versions often include bug fixes and compatibility improvements. 2. Check iPod Health: Your iPod could have some issues, which may lead to this behavior. Try connecting it to a...
Gavin, It seems like you're experiencing issues with syncing your iPod on Windows 7 Ultimate RTM 32bit with iTunes 8.2.1.6. The problem you described where it deletes around 40GB of tracks and then has to resync them again can certainly be frustrating. Try connecting it to a different computer or trying a different iPod to see if the problem persists. 3. Check for iPod Compatibility: Ensure that your iPod Classic and the version of iTunes you are using are compatible. Sometimes older versions of software might not work well with newer devices. 4. Reset iPod: Resetting your iPod to its factory settings might help. However, do this only after backing up your data, as it will erase everything on your iPod. 5. Check for Errors on the iPod: Use the built-in disk utility in Windows to check your iPod's disk for errors and bad sectors. 6. Rebuild iTunes Library: Sometimes, errors in the iTunes library can cause issues. Rebuilding the library might help. To do this, rename the iTunes folder, open iTunes, and then import your media again. 7. Check for Background Applications: Sometimes, other software running in the background can interfere with iTunes. Try closing unnecessary programs before syncing. 8. Reinstall iTunes: If all else fails, uninstall iTunes completely, restart your computer, and then reinstall iTunes from the official Apple website. Try these steps and see if they help in resolving the syncing issue you're facing. If the problem persists, it might be worth considering reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance, especially if it's related to compatibility or specific issues with iTunes and your iPod model. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions!
