Hi All,

For some weird reason I cannot upgrade to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 Pro with Media center. :(
Here's what happened;
Back on Oct. 17th I formatted and installed Windows 8 Pro and then installed Windows 8.1 Pro. Yesterday I was having a few issues with my online game and figured maybe it was Windows 8.1 which was the last thing that I done so figured it was that.
Last night I decided to completely redo my system again so I reformatted and installed Windows 8 Pro again which went smooth. I have all the updates installed and even the store apps updates installed. There don't seem to be any hidden updates to install so all seems good.
When I go to the Microsoft Store and select the Windows 8.1 free upgrade I click on the "Download" icon and get the error:

"Your Windows 8.1 install couldn't be completed. Something happened and the install of windows 8.1 can't be completed."

I have searched the internet and done several fixes but none of them are working for me :(
Is there a problem with the Microsoft Store?
Or is it that because I downloaded it on the 17th I cannot download it anymore?

greatly appreciate any help on this

    ]Check for Hidden Updates:
    • Although you mentioned that you've installed updates, check again for any hidden updates that might be necessary for the Windows 8.1 upgrade.
    []Run Windows Update Troubleshooter:
    • Use the built-in Windows Update Troubleshooter to address any issues with Windows Update that might be blocking the upgrade process.
    [
    ]Disable Antivirus and Firewall:
    • Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus software or firewall that might be interfering with the upgrade process.
    []Check System Integrity:
    • Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair any corrupted system files that could be causing the upgrade failure.
    [
    ]Reset Windows Store Cache:
    • Try resetting the Windows Store cache to see if that resolves the issue with downloading Windows 8.1. You can do this by running a command in PowerShell.
  2. Contact Microsoft Support:
    • If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance with the Windows 8.1 upgrade. Regarding your concerns:
      • There shouldn't be a time limit on downloading Windows 8.1 after a specific date.
      • The Microsoft Store should generally allow you to download Windows 8.1 if your system meets the requirements.
Try these steps and let me know if you encounter any specific errors or if you need further assistance!
