Solution
It seems like you are experiencing an issue with your Sony DVD burner not recognizing blank discs properly on a Windows 7 beta machine. This could be due to compatibility issues between the beta version of Windows 7 and the DVD burner. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue: 1. Update Device Drivers: - Make sure that the device drivers for your Sony DVD burner are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues. 2. Check Device Manager: - Go to Device Manager in Windows 7 and check if there are any exclamation marks or errors next to your DVD burner. If there are, try updating the drivers from there. 3. Firmware Update: - Check if there is a firmware update...

Check Device Manager: - Go to Device Manager in Windows 7 and check if there are any exclamation marks or errors next to your DVD burner. If there are, try updating the drivers from there. 3. Firmware Update: - Check if there is a firmware update available for your Sony DVD burner. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues. 4. Try Different Software: - Test the DVD burner with different burning software to see if the issue is software-specific. Sometimes, the software you are using to burn discs may not be compatible with the Windows 7 beta version. 5. Compatibility Mode: - Try running the burning software or the DVD burner itself in compatibility mode. Right-click on the software executable or the DVD burner device in Device Manager, go to Properties, and then to the Compatibility tab to set compatibility mode. 6. Test on Another PC: - Test the DVD burner on another PC running a stable version of Windows to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the DVD burner or the Windows 7 beta version. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it could be a compatibility issue with the beta version of Windows 7 and the DVD burner. In that case, you may need to wait for a stable release of Windows 7 or consider using a different DVD burner that is compatible with the beta version. Has anyone else on the Windows forum encountered this problem with a Sony DVD burner and Windows 7 beta version? It would be helpful to hear from others who might have experienced similar issues and found a solution.
