I have a intel G33 chipset with a Q9300 processor in a Shuttle Glamour PC. It has both full size Firewire 400 and mini 4wire. I believe the Firewire chip is from Texas Instruments. It seems that anytime I unplug my firewire sound cards or if the sound card stops working, I get an instant BSOD or a BSOD on shutdown. As an aside every time I change my TV from component to HDMI with my computer on, I get an instant BSOD. This happens with my Nvidia Gforce 8600 GT or the built in HDMI. anyone experience similar issues?

Solution
It seems like you're experiencing quite a few issues with your setup involving the Intel G33 chipset, Q9300 processor, Shuttle Glamor PC, Firewire sound cards, Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT, and HDMI connections. Let's break down these issues and see how we can address them: 1. BSOD on Disconnecting Firewire Sound Cards: - When you unplug the Firewire sound cards or they stop working, and you encounter a BSOD, this could indicate a driver or hardware issue related to the Firewire interface. Here are a few steps you can take: - Check the drivers for the Firewire chipset from Texas Instruments and ensure they are up to date. - Verify the drivers for the Firewire sound cards are also updated. - Consider testing with different Firewire...

Here are a few steps you can take: - Check the drivers for the Firewire chipset from Texas Instruments and ensure they are up to date. - Verify the drivers for the Firewire sound cards are also updated. - Consider testing with different Firewire devices to see if the issue persists. 2. BSOD on Changing TV Input from Component to HDMI: - Switching the TV input from component to HDMI causing a BSOD could be related to the graphics drivers or how the system handles the display change. Here are some steps to troubleshoot: - Ensure you have the latest Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT drivers installed. - Check for driver conflicts between the Nvidia graphics card and the built-in HDMI. - Verify if the issue occurs with different HDMI cables or ports on the TV. 3. General Suggestions: - Update all relevant drivers for the chipset, processor, graphics card, and sound cards. - Run a system diagnostic tool to check for any hardware issues. - Monitor system temperatures to ensure overheating is not causing these problems. - Consider checking the system event log for more detailed information on the BSODs. If you continue to experience these issues after performing these steps, it might be beneficial to seek further assistance from a tech support specialist or a computer repair professional. They can perform a more in-depth analysis of your system and provide tailored solutions to address these recurring problems.
