Windows 7 Purchased Professional... Can I downgrade to Home Edition?

I have Vista Home and it won't let me install 7 Pro without doing a clean install... I just want to do an upgrade.

Is there any option from Microsoft to download the Home version if you already purchased a higher version of 7?

I did the student offer and downloaded it earlier today... just didn't realize i'd have to clean install if I was coming up from Windows Vista home...

I don't have an external drive, though... so upgrade is pretty much the only choice i have without losing everything.

no you cant,it needs a backbone and Home is what yours is basically,you will need to doa clean install,in running W 7 Home premium and havent had a glitch(yet)
