Windows 7 Random, sporadic crashes (BSOD)

Hi there! I just read the sticky on posting .dmp files from the minidump folder. I've zipped three from the last 2 days. Sometimes I get 3-4 crashes a day for a few days in a row, sometimes nothing for weeks.

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance!

1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code
or data. See Link Removed due to 404 Error
2) A developer attempted to set a normal kernel breakpoint using a kernel
debugger that was not attached when the system was booted. Normal breakpoints,
"bp", can only be set if the debugger is attached at boot time. Hardware
breakpoints, "ba", can be set at any time.
3) A hardware corruption occurred, e.g. failing RAM holding kernel code or data.

Even if you are not using the sound card, you should still update the driver. You can disable it in the windows device manager, but I recommend you do update it.

Not sure what this is, some 3rd party tool I guess

To fix this, uninstall Daemon Tools in the normal method. Then use this installer/uninstaller to carefully remove sptd.sys from the system:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

Reboot when done.

Hi there. Thanks for the replies.

I've uninstalled Daemon Tools. I've also downloaded and installed the program from you link. However, I cannot figure out what to do from there. It doesn't seem to have installed anything and I've also tried a restart. How exactly do I use this tool(?) to remove sptd.sys? Am I missing something obvious?

The Atheros hasn't been updated yet, according to this latest crash dump.

Also, navigate to C:\Windows\SysWow64\drivers and delete AsIO.sys.

Reboot.

I did this but it gave me an error on startup saying it cannot start AsIO.sys. I'll leave it deleted though and see what happens.

The Atheros hasn't been updated yet, according to this latest crash dump.

Hummm... Well before I simply did a modify installation that it said would update the drive. However, I've just tried a complete removal + reinstallation using the new drivers. It throws an error when installing though. It does complete the installation and the hardware shows up in Device Manager but I'm not too hopeful that it installed correctly despite it definitely being for Win 7 x64.

Sorry to double post, but I'd really appreciate some further help with this. Got all the way through work today thinking brilliant, fixed... but get to 5pm and bam... BSOD.

I uninstalled the whole ASUS monitoring system this morning, and that got rid of the start-up error message I posted in my last post, but clearly didn't fix the problem.

This one was caused by memory corruption I would:

1- run a memory test

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Link Removed due to 404 Error or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

2- update the driver that TorrentG suggested
L1C62x64.sys fffff880`0466a000 fffff880`0467c000 0x00012000 0x49d2f6fd 4/1/2009 01:09:17

3-run a system file check to verify and repair your system files

.Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker - Windows 7 Forums

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

Right. I've not had time to go through this until now, but I've just had a whole spate of crashes, 3 in about 10 minutes.

I've tried to update the Atheros adaptor, but it simply wont install properly no matter what I do. I've googled L1C62x64.sys and it seems to be connected with a whole load of BSOD cases. Currently, the computer wont stay booted long enough for me to run any diagnostic.

EDIT: Just managed to run the system file check. No errors there at all. Still need to run the memory test at some point.

EDIT EDIT: Oh yeah... and here are the dumps: View attachment dumps.zip

OK, had another go at updating the Atheros LAN card drivers again. I've managed to update to the latest driver ASUS supplies on the website. Only problem... It's actually an older driver than the one I had before. I'm hoping maybe it's a more stable version? Going to try memtest now.

EDIT: Memtest86 came back with no errors.

Looks like you ran the memtest for 1 hour only - not enough! You need to run it overnight, or several hours. It is not necessarily that your memory is broken, but 2 of your dumps show BCCode: 109 - which can be caused by bad memory. So I suggest you take the time to run memtest again, overnight really.

I see your comment about Atheros, so if yours is the most up to date then of course leave it as it is. See what else you can update, it's important because 109 error can be caused by drivers as well:

CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (109)
This bugcheck is generated when the kernel detects that critical kernel code or
data have been corrupted. There are generally three causes for a corruption:
1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code
 or data. See http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/kernel/64bitPatching.mspx

ATI Mobo drivers

OK, well I've got the latest Atheros driver, and I've just got rid of and re-installed the latest VIA audio drivers. I'm not sure why there's reference to the Asus PCProve and AUSuite, I removed those. I'm also unsure about the ATI mobo drivers? What do you mean by this? I running the lastest ATI GPU driver available, not sure what you mean by mobo ones?

I ran the memtest86 for another 2 hours recently, but I'll leave it overnight and try that too.
