I am having an issue which did not exist in Windows XP or Windows 2003.

The problem is quite simple.

If there is any word or letter which has hyphens and you want to Select it by double clicking it does not select in Win 7 .

Example 11-1111111-11111

Try yourself by double clicking on it. You will not be able to select full range.

But try again in xp or 2003 you will be able to select entire range.

Same applies to words

This happens in Windows and I do not see this happening in Firefox.

Solution
The behavior you are experiencing with selecting words or letters with hyphens in Windows 7 can be related to how the operating system interprets certain characters like hyphens for word selection. Here are some possible reasons and solutions to address this issue: 1. Word Selection: Windows may treat hyphens as non-word characters, leading to issues when selecting text. 2. Double-Click Selection: - Windows uses certain characters (like hyphens) as word delimiters, affecting the behavior of double-click selection. 3. Workarounds: - Try triple-clicking on the text to perform a full-line selection quickly. - Use the Shift key along with the arrow keys to make a selection. 4. Third-Party Tools: - Consider using text...

System Settings: - Check the regional settings in Windows to see if there are any specific options related to text selection behavior. 6. Testing Across Applications: - Verify if the issue remains consistent across different applications in Windows 7 or if it's more pronounced in certain software. 7. Update Drivers: - Ensure that your keyboard and mouse drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause unexpected behavior in text selection. 8. Compatibility Mode: - You can try running the application exhibiting this issue in compatibility mode for an earlier Windows version to see if it resolves the selection problem. 9. Check Keyboard Settings: - Verify that language and keyboard settings are correctly configured in Windows 7. Incorrect settings can sometimes affect text selection behavior. 10. Application Settings: - Review and adjust any text selection settings within the application you are experiencing this issue with, if applicable. By implementing these steps, you may be able to improve the text selection process in Windows 7 when dealing with hyphens. If the issue persists, consider using alternative methods for text selection or exploring further customization options in Windows settings or the specific applications you are using.
