Right click a file in the My Pictures Directory
Select the "Send to Email Receipient"
Select a file (say 3MB)
Select the the medium resize option and click attach
Email message comes up with attached file of 11KB !!!!!!

Copy the same file to any directory apart from My Pictures and the resultant file is about 80KB as you would expect.

Hence a "sent to email receipient" causes an incorrectly sized file in the amail attachment.

Any clues

Rick

Solution
When you use the "Send to Email Recipient" option in the My Pictures directory and choose the medium resize option for a 3MB file, but end up with an 11KB file in the email attachment, there are a few reasons why this might be happening:

Possible Explanations:

  1. Compression:
    • The email client or file-sharing service might be applying heavy compression to the attachment to reduce the file size.
    []Resizing vs. Compression:
    • The "medium resize" option might resize the image but not apply substantial compression. However, the email service or client may automatically compress the attached image further to save bandwidth.

    ]Original vs. Resized Image:
    • When you copy the file to a different directory, the attachment size increases because the original file is attached, not the resized one.
    []File Format:
    • The file format of the attached image can affect the size. Formats like JPEG are usually compressed, so a small file size is expected.

      Recommendations:

    [
    ]Choosing Different Options:
    • Try different resizing options or file formats to see if the behavior changes.
    []Check Email Attachment Settings:
    • Look for any settings in your email client that might automatically compress attachments to reduce file sizes.
    [
    ]Direct Upload:
    • Instead of using "Send to Email Recipient," try attaching the file directly from the directory where it's stored. If you encounter issues related to file size discrepancies between the original and attached images when using the "Send to Email Recipient" feature from the My Pictures directory, experimenting with the suggestions above might help you understand and potentially resolve the issue.
