What does it say?

It looks like some files could not be fixed and unless you can repair them it's probably best if you re-installed. Why did you run the scan in the first place? If it was due to a problem would system restore help?

Notice the last entry says:

It looks like it says that everything is fixed. Are you still having the problem?

Yes it does, but that's the 'addition' to the other result which looks like wasn't so good..

:)

It seems that all the problems center on "iassdo.dll.mui". Is there a way of replacing that with a good copy from the Windows 7 disk?

I still wonder why he ran sfc in the first place... that was a good question to ask.

I had the same problem when I ran the scan I ran it to try and fix an issue with installing programs that use windows installer the scan did not work so I did a repair installation and it worked i ran the can no issues came up and i could install things he might need to do a repair installation!!! he did not take that long just select upgrade in installation options ans let it work its magic

Hi all. There are two main reasons why I ran the SFC command:

1. In the picture folder and it's sub-folders, I visually see files that I've just deleted. They are no longer present in the folder but visually the file didn't disappear. If I navigate out of the folder and come back again, the file is no longer there. It happens many times, specifically in that folder. Could be others as well but I mainly delete files from the picture folder since I'm a professional photographer and I use that folder to sort my images.

2. I came across too many times with this annoying administrator privileges issue when I try to save a file from the Snipping tool to the download folder when I want to display something in forums. I first get the message that I cannot write to this folder since I'm not an admin (while I am), and then it writes this temp file into the download folder, I then try to save again and it asks me if I'm sure I want to override the existing file (the temp file), I click yes and it saves. Meaning I do have admin rights but from some reason it bugs me with this issue. Doesn't always happen with the snipping tool, can happen with saving files from the browser.

The UAC level is set to the default level of 4 I presume. I never altered it. I got a suggestion to run the SFC command in another post on the 1st issue in this forum.

Other then that I don't have bugs with windows.
This is my rig in case and it helps:
Intel E8500 3.16GHz OC to 3.42GHz
OCZ Titanium 1150MHz
Gigabyte EX38-DS4
ATI 4870 Palit 1GB dual edition
1X500GB Hard Drive with 2 partitions: C:\ and E:\ <- holds the picture folder
1X160GB Hard Drive 1 partition D:\

How much RAM do you have Gil80? Also, if you don't already, trying running a cleaner like this CCleaner - Home

As for the prompts, there is a way to configure the UAC to not be so intrusive but to be honest I never have used since it's first inception in vista.. I fiddle with my pc way too much to be bothered with having to deal with that. I do think it's a good idea though if your just running day to day stuff (I really don't want this to turn into a thread about the UAC and the perils of not using it).. So you could try setting it to a different level and if your worried about security, run something like 'Threatfire' which isn't so intrusive.

I use 4GB in 2 stick of 2GB.
I use CCleaner for removing crap. Nevertheless, I have no idea what are these sfc scan reports about but I would like to fix them.

Also I just got a message that I can't use the immunize feature in Spy Bot since I'm not the admin... that's a first!

Have you tried running chkdsk with the option to repair broken sectors enabled?

If you check out the screenshot you'll see what needs ticking ect... Just right-click on your 'C' drive and choose properties and then Tools. You'll then see a button with 'Check now' written beneath, click that and schedule a chkdsk, making sure you tick the box shown..

I ran the chkdsk and I ticked all the boxes... I restarted the computer so the chkdsk will run.. then what? after it finished, windows was up... where is the report and what should I do next?

It doesn't really give a report at the end although if you had some broken sectors it would have told you... What about running the repair function like krypto suggested?

I'm afraid to mess with the system too much... it is stable but with an issue I mentioned earlier and now from some reason some stuff takes too much time to load like office outlook
