I've noticed ever since I installed Windows 7 that my internet is way more slow and unstable.
I've tried turning my firewall off and everything I could think of that could be the problem, but nothing worked.

So I installed a WindowsXP VM...and what do you know, the internet on the VM is like 500% faster than on 7.

Any suggestions?

It's odd that you're experiencing slow and unstable internet connectivity on your Windows 7 installation compared to a Windows XP virtual machine where the internet is significantly faster. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot and potentially improve the internet speed and stability on your Windows 7 system: 1. Update Network Drivers: - Outdated network drivers can cause connectivity issues. Try updating the network adapter drivers on your Windows 7 system. You can usually find the latest drivers on the manufacturer's website. 2. Check Network Settings: - Ensure that your network settings are correct. Check if the network adapter is configured properly, DHCP settings are correct, and that there are no conflicts...

Check if the network adapter is configured properly, DHCP settings are correct, and that there are no conflicts with IP addresses. 3. Run Network Troubleshooter: - Windows has a built-in network troubleshooter that can diagnose and fix common connectivity issues. You can access it by going to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Troubleshoot problems. 4. Disable and Re-enable Network Adapter: - Try disabling and re-enabling your network adapter. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. 5. Check Firewall and Antivirus: - Make sure that your firewall and antivirus software are not restricting or blocking your internet connection. You mentioned turning off the firewall, but check if any antivirus software is affecting your connection as well. 6. Disable IPv6: - Sometimes, disabling IPv6 can help improve internet connectivity on certain networks. You can do this by going to Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Right-click on your network adapter > Properties > Uncheck IPv6. 7. Perform a Clean Boot: - Perform a clean boot to eliminate software conflicts. This can help determine if any third-party applications are causing the slow internet speed. Instructions to perform a clean boot can be found online. 8. Check for Windows Updates: - Ensure that your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, updates include fixes for network-related issues. 9. Consider Network Configuration: - Review your network configuration, router settings, and check if any specific settings on Windows 7 differ from the settings on your Windows XP VM that could be impacting the connection speed. Try these steps and see if they help improve your internet speed and stability on Windows 7. If the issue persists, you may need to dive deeper into specific network diagnostics tools or seek further assistance.
