Windows 7 Some folder attributes of one folder reset when logging in - Why?

Sometimes (not every time) when I log into one account on my laptop (there are 3 accounts on the laptop), folder attributes ('show hidden files', 'hide extensions') get reset to their default values. I then need to change the settings (turn 'show hidden files' on, turn 'hide extensions' off). Note that this only happens intermittently on one of three accounts. Any idea why this happens? How can I fix permanently?

I've not heard of this happening before. Are the folder attributes being changed on the other user accounts at any point? I suspect not from how you describe your issue. This guide here may help: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1911-take-ownership-shortcut.html

Solution
I looked at that guide. It requires a change to the registry. I am somewhat hesitant about making a registry change so I think I will hold out on that. Any other thoughts anyone??????????????????
