CPU Meter & Wireless Networking Meter had been working for about 6 months but suddenly replaced with an arrow in a small white box. UAC not disabled, & other gadgets, eg Calendar, still showing. Any ideas please?

When the CPU Meter and Wireless Networking Meter gadgets suddenly stop displaying their usual data and are replaced by an arrow in a small white box, it could indicate an issue with the gadgets themselves or with the system settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

1. Restart the Windows Desktop Gadgets: Sometimes, simply restarting the desktop gadgets can fix minor issues. You can do this by right-clicking on the desktop, selecting "Gadgets," right-clicking on each problematic gadget, and choosing "Close Gadget." Then reopen them.

2. Check Gadget Settings:
- Right-click on your desktop and select "Gadgets."
- Right-click on the problematic gadgets and choose "Options" to ensure they are configured correctly.

3. Reset the Gadget Settings:
- Close all the gadgets.
- Go to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar and delete the Settings.ini file. This will reset all the gadget settings.
- Restart the Windows Sidebar process to apply the changes.

4. System File Checker (SFC) Scan:
- Run an SFC scan to check for and repair any corrupted system files that may be affecting the gadgets. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
Code:
     sfc /scannow

5. Check Windows Update:
- Ensure that your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues with gadgets.

6. Check for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to rule out any malware or virus interference with the gadgets.

7. Check Gadget Compatibility:
- Confirm that the CPU Meter and Wireless Networking Meter gadgets are compatible with your version of Windows. Older gadgets may not work correctly on newer versions of Windows.

8. Check Gadget Platform Service:
- Make sure that the Windows Gadget Platform service is running. You can check this by typing services.msc in the Run dialog and verifying that the "Windows Gadget Platform" service is set to Automatic and running.

By following these steps, you can potentially resolve the issue with the CPU Meter and Wireless Networking Meter gadgets not displaying properly on your desktop. If the issue persists, consider searching for updated versions of these gadgets or alternative ones that provide similar functionality.
