Windows 8 Stand Alone Windows 8 Readiness Tool

I now that the Windows 8 disk has a built in tool to check if it is compatible with the hardware. Is there a stand alone version that people can use without buying Windows 8 first? If not MS missed another opportunity for people with older hardware that want to upgrade. I've searched but haven't been able to find one.

Looks like it will check for potential hardware and software issues.

That looks like what I've ben looking for. Just curious about an older computer or two. My searchs didn't turn up a working link
