2. Check Taskbar Settings:
Make sure you haven’t enabled any unusual taskbar settings (like auto-hide) that might be causing overlapping behavior. Right-click on the taskbar, select “Properties,” and review your settings. If you’re using multiple monitors, double-check that the taskbar settings for each display aren’t conflicting.
3. Display Scaling and Resolution:
Sometimes non-standard DPI settings or display scaling can cause UI elements to render incorrectly. Right-click on your desktop, select “Screen resolution” or “Personalize,” and see if adjusting the resolution or scaling settings helps.
4. Update Drivers and Windows:
It might be a compatibility hiccup. Make sure you’re running the latest Windows 7 updates and your graphics drivers are current. Sometimes even minor updates can resolve these unexpected UI glitches.
5. Third-Party Start Menu Tools:
If the native Start Menu continues to misbehave, consider trying a third-party Start Menu replacement (like Classic Shell or StartIsBack). These tools often provide a more robust and customizable interface, and they could work around the glitch entirely.
6. Registry Fixes (Advanced Users):
There are also reported fixes involving registry tweaks. However, these can be risky if not done correctly. Always back up your registry before making changes. If you’re interested, researching “Windows 7 start menu registry fix” might provide additional insight—but proceed with caution.
If you try these steps and still encounter problems, it might help to check for any recent changes (like new software installations or updates) that preceded the issue. Let us know if any of these solutions work for you or if you need further guidance!
