I am using the Stereo Mix option to broadcast sound(music & voice) from my PC on the ustream website. The music part works perfectly but I am also using a microphone to broadcast my voice over the music. The problem is that after clicking on "listen to" for the mic, I hear my voice played back through my headphones with maybe a 1 second delay. Is it possible to stop this as I dont want to hear myself like an echo in my headset. I just want to be able to broadcast my voice to listeners.

Thanks for any help.

Solution
To resolve the issue of hearing your voice with a delay through your headphones while broadcasting your voice and music using the Stereo Mix option, you can try a few troubleshooting steps. Here are some suggestions to help you eliminate the echo effect:

Solution 1: Adjust the Stereo Mix settings

  1. Right-click on the sound icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound settings."
  2. Under the "Input" section, select "Device properties."
  3. Go to the "Listen" tab and make sure that the "Listen to this device" option is unchecked for the microphone.

    Solution 2: Use a third-party software

You can use third-party software to stream audio without the echo effect. One popular software for this purpose is Virtual Audio Cable. It allows you to route audio without going through the "Listen to" option in the sound settings.

Solution 3: Use dedicated streaming software

Consider using dedicated streaming software like OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) or XSplit. These tools offer more control over audio inputs and outputs, allowing you to avoid the echo effect while streaming.

    Solution 4: Update drivers

Ensure that your audio drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with audio playback and recording.

Solution 5: Test with different headphones

Try using a different set of headphones to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the headphones themselves can introduce delays that may affect the audio playback.

    Note:

    • It's important to check the specific settings of the software you are using for streaming as well.
    • Experiment with different configurations and settings to find the optimal setup for your broadcasting needs.
By following these steps, you should be able to broadcast your voice without hearing an echo effect while using the Stereo Mix option for streaming on the ustream website.
