Windows 10 Stuck on 'Download in Progress' Message for Windows 10 Update—Need Assistance!

Hi all I've had the message in the get Windows 10 app saying download in progress for 6 days now. I'm assuming that it isn't downloading as I can't imagine it taking that long, I have fast Internet connection. Also if I click on "view download progress" it just closes the app. Any help or advice on this issue would be much appreciated.
My system is core i5 windows 8.1

It does take that long but you can skip this step to just make an iso...Link Removed.

Many thanks for the prompt reply I will give it another couple of days then if still not downloaded completely I'll use the method you suggest. Have you any idea why the app closes on selecting view download progress?

Yes its designed to download the files only at times when the system is not doing other stuff... the basic iso is upto 6g and then you may have extra lang-packs and drivers to download on top so it is a very big.
