First, Davehc is wrong about who created the Buford folder. When I got the computer, Vista was pre-installed, and on the first boot-up asked me what my name is. I Typed "Buford" and it then created the Buford folder within the 'Favorites' folder. I never created that folder - Vista created it and placed it within the Favorites folder, and then placed my Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos directories within the Buford directory. Windows 7 then hid or deleted the Buford directory and placed my Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos folders within a new folder called 'Libraries.' I can find all my documents, pictures, videos, and music in the proper folders, but the folder formerly called 'Garmin' is now hidden. It is not lost. I can find all the user files that are in it, but must do so by (a) opening Garmin user software or (b) doing a Start > Search operation or (c) opening the Recent Places folder. Therefore, I cannot manipulate files in Windows Explorer as easily as I can for other documents, pictures, etc. It would be simpler if Windows Explorer displayed the Garmin user files as Vista did.
It is possible that Windows 7 simply renamed the Buford folder to 'Libraries,' but if so, it still hid the Garmin user files (and possibly other files) from the usual Windows Explorer folders.
Secondly, I'm not sure we are on the same wavelength re win.old and windows.old. Doing a Start > Search as you both recommended produces 3 identical rtf files on how to install Windows 7. That search did not find any folders despite you both telling me that it would. Why do you think doing a Search on win.old or windows.old will lead to a folder? Regardless, Windows 7 is now installed, and I don't need to do that again. What am I missing?
