This is a very strange issue. I've had a tablet for a week now (Acer Iconia W700-6670) and I want to do the Windows Updates but they just don't seem to work. As in the updates are still in WU like they weren't done at all. I've done them three times now and I don't want to do them again because it's f**king long. The updates work fine on my other stuff so why not on the tab?

And Windows Update itself seems to have connection problems. It seems that it only downloads whenever it feels like it. All it does is take some CPU power without downloading anything. Literally, not downloading anything for a while, then it does for 5 seconds, and then just stops for another while. But that's something that happens in all versions that I have (my PC, a Laptop, and the tablet).

When Windows Updates don't seem to work as expected, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check Network Connection:

    []Restart Your Tablet:

    ]Troubleshoot Windows Update:
    • Windows Update has a built-in troubleshooter that can help identify and fix common issues. You can access it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Windows Update.
    []Reset Windows Update Components:
    • You can try resetting the Windows Update components, as corrupt files can sometimes cause update problems. This involves stopping the Windows Update service, renaming the SoftwareDistribution directory, and restarting the service. I can provide you with detailed steps for this if needed.

Issue 2: Connection Problems with Windows Update

If Windows Update is having connection problems across multiple devices, it's important to consider the following:
    [
    ]Windows Update Server Status:
    • Occasionally, Windows Update servers can experience temporary issues. You can check the status of the Windows Update service online to see if there are any reported outages.
    []Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
    • Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block Windows Update from functioning correctly. Make sure that the necessary exceptions are in place for Windows Update to communicate with Microsoft servers.
    [
]Set Metered Connection (For Windows 10):
    • If your other devices are running Windows 10, you can try setting your network connection to metered to prevent automatic updates, which might relieve the strain on your network. By addressing these points, you should be able to troubleshoot the Windows Update issues on your Acer tablet and potentially improve the connectivity problems with Windows Update on all your devices. Let me know if you need more specific instructions or assistance with any of these steps.
