I just received my new computer with win7 and so far so good. One thing that is troubling is that the task bar will not auto-hide, even though it is selected. If I deselect it, apply, then select it and apply, it will drop down and come right back up.
With programs like media player and picture viewer, the controls are hidden and would be nice if auto hide would stay working. Windows 7 Professional.
Thanks

It's great to hear that you're enjoying your new computer with Windows 7! The issue you're facing with the taskbar not auto-hiding even though it's selected can be frustrating, especially when using programs like media players and picture viewers where having a hidden taskbar would be ideal for a full-screen experience. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the auto-hide issue with the taskbar on Windows 7 Professional: 1. Restart Explorer.exe: Sometimes, restarting the Windows Explorer process can resolve taskbar issues. Here's how you can do it: - Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. - Under the "Processes" tab, right-click on "Windows Explorer" and select "Restart." 2. Check Taskbar...

Check Taskbar Settings: - Right-click on an empty space on the taskbar. - Select "Properties." - Ensure that the "Auto-hide the taskbar" option is checked. - Click "Apply" and then "OK." 3. Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest updates. Sometimes, system updates can contain fixes for known issues, including taskbar problems. 4. Check for Third-Party Software Interference: Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with the taskbar behavior. Try disabling any recently installed applications to see if the issue is resolved. 5. Run System File Checker: - Open a command prompt as an administrator. - Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan for and repair any corrupted system files. If after trying these steps the issue persists, there may be a more complex underlying problem. You could also consider reaching out to Microsoft support or your computer manufacturer for further assistance since Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft as of January 2020. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions!
