Windows 7 Taskbar issue

I can't change the width of my taskbar. I have unlocked it and tried to resize it, it would only allow me to adjust the height. I have highlighted the problem in the attachment. I don't know if Firefox is causing it, but just in case, I have Firefox 3.6.21.

does it only happen when you have firefox open or all the time?

I woke up and it was magically fixed. But it was like that even when Firefox was closed.

It almost looks like you have an extra toolbar. What does the progress bar do on the right?

a) do you have multiple monitors?
b) try resizing the screen resolution to see if it refits to the full screen
