Tesla’s Model Y L Launch Series is beginning to appear in U.S. showrooms, giving prospective buyers a chance to inspect the six-seat, long-wheelbase crossover before customer deliveries begin.
Not a Tesla App reported display vehicles at Tesla’s Naperville, Illinois, store and at Tysons, Virginia, with sightings of Cosmic Silver examples fitted with the new Zen Grey interior. The vehicles are static displays rather than demo units, so visitors can sit in all three rows but cannot yet take one for a drive.

Tesla opened U.S. orders for the Model Y L on July 2. The vehicle is a 196-inch-long version of the Model Y with a 2-2-2 seating arrangement: second-row captain’s chairs and a third row intended to be more usable than the former seven-seat option in the standard-length Model Y.
Tesla lists the Model Y L Premium Launch Series from $61,990, with an EPA-estimated 325 miles of range on 19-inch wheels or 320 miles with the 20-inch option. It is currently offered only as an all-wheel-drive Launch Series configuration.
The U.S. model uses an 83 kWh battery, supports up to 250 kW Supercharging, and has a claimed 0–60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. Tesla’s product page also lists a larger 16-inch center display, an eight-camera array including a front bumper camera, and 89 cubic feet of total cargo capacity.

Launch trim bundles extras

According to Tesla’s current offers page, the introductory package includes Launch Series badging and a year each of Supercharging and Full Self-Driving (Supervised). Buyers should treat the latter as an included driver-assistance subscription, not autonomous driving capability; Tesla continues to require active driver supervision.
Not a Tesla App said the showroom units include the larger screen, cooled wireless phone chargers, and the 20-inch wheels. It also cited an owner’s hands-on visit that found the third-row floor only modestly raised, though shoppers should judge legroom and access themselves rather than rely on early impressions.
Tesla has not announced public demo-drive availability for the Model Y L displays. The company’s order page confirms the $61,990 starting price, while reporting from Cars.com and Electrek places first U.S. customer deliveries in September.
For buyers weighing the Model Y L against Tesla’s two-row models or other three-row EVs, the immediate practical move is simply to check whether a nearby store has a display vehicle before placing an order.
