I couldn't find anything on the web, so I write it here.

I have a desktop that I just formatted and put Windows 7 64 bits in it. I bought this computer in August 2009. The trouble is, my wireless PCI doesn't work anymore. I bought another one that was for sure compatible with 7, and still doesn't work. I updated the drivers many times, I updated the drivers of the motherboard, I took the adapter out and in a few times... I dunno what to do anymore...

Can anyone help me?

    ]Check Compatibility:
    • Ensure the new wireless PCI adapter is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. Manufacturers sometimes provide Windows 10 drivers only.
    []BIOS Update:
    • Check if there's a BIOS update available for your motherboard. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues.
    [
    ]Check Router Settings:
    • Verify that your router is compatible with the wireless adapter and supports the same protocols (e.g., 802.11n, 802.11ac).
    []Physical Inspection:
    • Check if the PCI slot is functioning correctly. Try using the adapter in another PCI slot if available.
    [
    ]Reinstall the Adapter:
    • Uninstall the wireless adapter and reinstall it. Ensure it's properly seated in the PCI slot.
    []Reset Network Settings:
    • Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and type netsh winsock reset to reset network settings.
    [
    ]Try Safe Mode:
    • Boot into Safe Mode with Networking to check if the adapter works without any conflicting applications running.
  2. Wireless Troubleshooter:
    • Run the built-in Windows Network Troubleshooter to diagnose and fix common network-related issues.

      Additional Information:

      • Older Equipment: It's possible that the adapter or motherboard might be too outdated to work properly with newer devices.
      • Obsolescence: As Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft, there might be limited driver support available for newer hardware.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and possibly resolve the issue with your wireless PCI adapter. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you encounter any specific error messages during this process.
