Hello All;I'm new to the forum and have a basic understanding of both software and hardware. I have two Dell Studio laptops(PC replacement style) a 1747 and 1749 both running Windows 7 Home Premium with service pack 1. I recently added several bluetooth combination stereo headphone/microphone communication devices. Both were recognized and paired with no problem. However, one computer wouldn't show the "advanced features" . It loaded just the headset driver not the audio device driver. To recap, one computer allows the bluetooth devices to be used for communication and as a stereo headset while the other allows the devices to be used for communication only. Any thoughts?

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing an issue with Bluetooth devices on your Dell Studio laptops running Windows 7 Home Premium. The difference in functionality between the two laptops, where one allows for the use of Bluetooth devices as a stereo headset along with communication and the other only allows for communication, could be due to driver or configuration differences. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Bluetooth Drivers:

It seems like you are experiencing an issue with Bluetooth devices on your Dell Studio laptops running Windows 7 Home Premium. The difference in functionality between the two laptops, where one allows for the use of Bluetooth devices as a stereo headset along with communication and the other only allows for communication, could be due to driver or configuration differences. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Bluetooth Drivers:
    • Ensure that both laptops have the latest Bluetooth drivers installed. You can go to the Dell support website, enter your laptop's service tag or model number, and download the latest Bluetooth drivers for your specific laptop model.
    []Update Drivers:
    • Update the Bluetooth drivers on the laptop that is not showing the "advanced features" to see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause compatibility problems.
    [
    ]Check Audio Settings:
    • Verify the audio settings on both laptops. Make sure that the correct audio output device is selected. Sometimes, the audio device might not switch to the Bluetooth headset automatically.
    []Bluetooth Profiles:
    • Check the Bluetooth profiles supported by both laptops. The stereo headset functionality might require specific Bluetooth profiles (like A2DP) to work properly.
    [
    ]Re-pair Devices:
    • Remove the Bluetooth devices from both laptops and re-pair them. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
    []Device Manager:
    • Check the Device Manager on both laptops to see if there are any issues or conflicts with the Bluetooth or audio devices.
    [
    ]Windows Update:
    • Ensure that both laptops are up-to-date with Windows updates. Sometimes, system updates can resolve driver and compatibility issues.
  2. Compatibility Mode:
    • If the problem persists, you can try running the application that controls the Bluetooth devices in compatibility mode. Right-click on the application, go to Properties, and then the Compatibility tab to change compatibility settings.

      Additional Considerations:

    • Third-Party Software: If you are using any third-party Bluetooth management software, try disabling it temporarily to see if it resolves the issue. It's worth mentioning that Windows 7 is an older operating system, and some newer Bluetooth devices might have limited compatibility or features on it. If the issue persists, consider upgrading to a newer version of Windows for better support and compatibility with the latest devices. Feel free to try these steps and let me know if you need further assistance.
