Please help!!! I am unable to access Internet through LAN after installing Widows 7 64 bit Ultimate Edition on my PC.

Earlier, I had Windows XP SP3 32 bit installed on the PC and the Internet worked fine. I did Low Level Formatting of the hard disk from using Seagate SeaTools for DOS (order of activities: short test, long test, zero fill, repair bad sectors, short test), then installed Windows 7 64 Bit ultimate edition. After installation, I opened the Device Manager and checked the Ethernet Adapter of LAN card mounted on the motherboard, it says its working properly. In Network Connections, I clicked the TCP/IP version 4 properties to the ISP provide details: subnet, gateway, DNS etc. I disabled and reenabled the ethernet adapter from the Newtork Connection and reset the modem (switched off, removed all cables, waited for a few minutes, then restarted the modem)

I am able to access Internet from the same modem on my Laptop both through LAN cable and through Wifi.

My PC configuration is AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600 processor, ASUS M2V-TVM motherboard, Realtek 8139 LAN Card (mounted in LAN slot), ADSL 2 Modem supplied by Internet Service Provider.

PLEASE HELP! I can't see my beloved desktop distanced from the amazing cyberworld........

It seems like you've gone through quite a thorough troubleshooting process already. Since you can access the Internet on your laptop through both LAN cable and WiFi but are facing issues with the desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate after a fresh installation, there could be a few things to check: 1. Check Network Settings: - Ensure that the IP settings (subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server) you entered for TCP/IP v4 are correct. You can try setting them to obtain automatically to see if that resolves the issue. - Check if there are any conflicting settings in the network properties. Ensure that the settings are appropriate for your network setup. 2. Driver Installation: - Even though Device Manager shows that the Ethernet...

Driver Installation: - Even though Device Manager shows that the Ethernet adapter is working properly, sometimes reinstalling or updating the driver can resolve connectivity issues. Try downloading the latest driver for the Realtek 8139 LAN Card from the manufacturer's website and installing it. 3. Windows Update: - Make sure that all Windows updates are installed. Sometimes updates include fixes for issues like network connectivity problems. 4. Firewall and Antivirus: - Sometimes security software can interfere with network connections. Temporarily disabling the firewall or antivirus software to test the connection might help identify if they are causing the problem. 5. Network Adapter Configuration: - Confirm in the BIOS settings that the LAN card is enabled. You can access BIOS during the computer startup process by pressing a specific key (usually F2, Del, or Esc). 6. Network Troubleshooting: - Run the Windows Network Diagnostic tool to see if it can identify the issue and offer a solution. 7. Alternative Connection: - If possible, try connecting your desktop to the internet using a different LAN cable or a different port on the modem to rule out any physical connection issues. 8. Check Network Hardware: - Ensure that the LAN card is firmly seated in the motherboard slot and all cables are securely connected. By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the network connectivity issue on your Windows 7 Ultimate desktop. Let me know if you encounter any specific challenges while following these steps.
