I am still having a problem with my network setup. I am unable to see of ping ip or computer name from my windows 7 desktop to my windows 7 laptop. Laptop is on wireless. When connected wired everything works perfectly. I restored my laptop back to factory last night and started over enabling file sharing and workgroups. I do not care to use homegroups. It should be simple enough to use without them. I have researched and researched for countless hours and have yet to find a legitimate solution. I had it at one time set up where I could connect to laptop by IP Address but now I am unable to for some odd reason. I have checked services, policies (except laptop is running home premium so it doesnt have local policy editor), and pretty much everything else. Here is my cmd file for ip config.......

Solution
It seems like you are encountering network connectivity issues between your Windows 7 desktop and laptop, particularly when the laptop is connected wirelessly. Below is an analysis of the information provided in your command prompt output: - Ping Results: - When you ping using the computer name "devanserver," it cannot find the host. - However, when you ping the IP address "192.168.1.6," it responds successfully. - NBTSTAT: - The NBTSTAT command shows the NetBIOS Local Name Table for different network connections, including registered names like "DEVANDELL," "WORKGROUP," and "MSBROWSE." - IP Configuration (IPCONFIG/ALL): - Your laptop's hostname is "DevanDell." - The laptop has both a wireless and Ethernet...
- NBTSTAT: - The NBTSTAT command shows the NetBIOS Local Name Table for different network connections, including registered names like "DEVANDELL," "WORKGROUP," and "MSBROWSE." - IP Configuration (IPCONFIG/ALL): - Your laptop's hostname is "DevanDell." - The laptop has both a wireless and Ethernet connection. - The wireless LAN adapter has the IPv4 address "192.168.1.38." Given this information, it appears that your wireless connection is correctly configured, and the issue may lie in the NetBIOS name resolution when using the computer name instead of the IP address. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try: 1. Check Firewall Settings: - Ensure that the firewall settings on both systems are not blocking the network communication. Disable the firewall temporarily for testing. 2. Verify File and Printer Sharing: - Make sure that "File and Printer Sharing" is enabled in the network settings on both systems. 3. Check Network Discovery Settings: - Confirm that network discovery is turned on. This setting allows your computer to see other network computers and devices. 4. Reset TCP/IP: - You can try resetting the TCP/IP stack using the command: netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt. 5. Adjust NetBIOS Settings: - Adjust the NetBIOS settings by going to "Control Panel" -> "Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change adapter settings" -> Right-click on your wireless connection -> "Properties" -> "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" -> "Properties" -> "Advanced" -> "WINS" tab -> Select "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP." 6. Check Workgroup Settings: - Ensure that both systems are in the same workgroup to facilitate easier sharing. After trying these steps, attempt to ping the laptop using the computer name again to see if the issue is resolved. Let me know if you encounter any further difficulties or if you need additional assistance with troubleshooting.
