When installing I get this!

setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information.

so where are the setup files????? lol

If I could see them then maybe I could figure it out!

Did you burn the iso to a dvd? USB? Did you extract the files in another os and run it from there?

From DVD

Actully got Three Win7 DVD's

First one worked on an older PC just fine!

the other two (one is a All In One edition) and other is straight 64-bit edition

all three don't work on my newer machine.

I found the log file by loading the System Recovery Options and using the command prompt with these commands

cd \
dir/s *.log
cd X:\Windows\panther\
type setuperr.log

(nice to use dos commands on a 2010 OS!)

The error says

[0x06069e] IBS GetMachineInfo:Couldn't find boot disk on the BIOS-based computer

so will google that, let me know if you get the msg!

OK I am using a Gigabyte GA-965G-DS3 R1 board and have found that by enabling SATA-AHCI and SATA ports as Native (Not IDE emulation) that Win7 iscurrently installing!! Will let you know progress!

Win7 installed and is okay now! Even on an old P4-3.0 (i865, DDR1) it was quite, so some older machines will be suitable for Win7!
