Overview
Heaven Benchmark is a DirectX 11 GPU benchmark based on advanced Unigine™ engine from Unigine Corp. It reveals the enchanting magic of floating islands with a tiny village hidden in the cloudy skies.

Features
  • Support of DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 11 and OpenGL
  • Comprehensive use of tessellation technology
  • Advanced SSAO (screen-space ambient occlusion)
  • Volumetric cumulonimbus clouds generated by a physically accurate algorithm
  • Simulation of changing light conditions
  • Dynamic sky with light scattering
  • Interactive experience with fly/walk-through modes
Hardware Tessellation
The distinguishing feature of the benchmark is hardware tessellation, a scalable technology aimed for automatic subdivision of polygons into smaller and finer pieces, so that games gain drastically detailed and more elaborated look almost free of charge in terms of performance.
There are three tessellation modes available in this version of the benchmark:
Moderate Mode
This mode is targeted to provide reasonable performance on a wide range of DX11 hardware.
Normal Mode
Default mode available in the benchmark shows optimal quality-to-performance ratio. That's the way to achieve prominent visual difference with hardware tessellation technology.
Extreme Mode
It is designed to meet the perspectives of the next series of DX11-capable hardware pushing up the tessellation level to the extreme in the next 1-2 years.
System Requirements
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 2xxx and higher or NVIDIA GeForce 7xxx and higher.
Tessellation feature REQUIRES both video card with DirectX 11 support and MS Windows Vista / 7!

My ASUS EAH ATI 5870 benchmarks:

I tested it 1280x1024 default AF4 AA0 and 1280x1024 AF16 AA8.

1280x1024 default AF4 AA0 :

DX11 gave me the floating framerate of 10 to 76 FPS, some 30 FPS avg, while both DX9 and DX10 performed at stable 75 FPS/sec.

It certainly is purdey... :)

That's why they called it not just heaven, but also unique. It looks a little less purdey when directx9/10 rendered. For example, the dragon's fish scale (his body surface) looks more outstanding :

: )

... like as if I've been to Heaven after a couple days running it:

You have much better results, but you have both your CPU and your card well overclocked. : )

Well the card is factory overclocked as I haven't touched it.. No need really as performance is simply awesome anyway. :)

How do they derive frequencies, do you know ?

In the bios. The card is given a custom bios and if you know what your doing you can change these around too but personally I wouldn't bother.

Yeah, you're right. I mean those numerous hardware utilities show these low frequencies. So to get from 300 Mhz memory to its effective 5 Ghz we do what: multiply by a multiplier, which I don't know what, then take PCIEx into account, and this way finally we arrive at our 4800 Mhz?

Ok, just curious, don't worry about it much, I'll look it up later. ) Gotta go now.

Hmm... not too sure myself exactly but I guess it has something to do with running in either 2D or 3D. When your just browsing your running mainly in 2D so the card throttles back to the frequency you mention above. The same goes for 3D mode (gaming) where the card will run at full spec..

just tried to download but speed is lousy - download seems capped to ~230kB/s and that is a bit thin for the file size of 230MB.

Where are you trying to download from Agent? If the main site is slow try somewhere like Guru 3D

I was trying 3 of those TechpowerUp servers which seem to be all speed capped. Anyway, I downloaded it from there and got it after a slow while :)

@ Agent, the Unigine homepage should be fine, I personally downloaded them all from there. A download manager will do it 2-3 times faster than IE default downloader.

@ Kemical, you are absolutely right frequencies jump, sensors show me: GPU - 157-850 Mhz, memory - 300-1200. No questions about GPU's 850 Mhz, which is correct as specified by ATI, but I'm still confused about the memory: 1200x2(pciex)=2400, but we know that ATI 5870 has it 4800 effective. So, I'm gonna try to find out how 4800 is derived from 1200. So, wish me good luck. : razz :

This probably has something to do with the capacity of PCIeX 16x, which can multiply the frequency more than twice.

Here you go Greg.. I ran the bench running at stock frequencies..

Here is my result - graphics quality improved dramatically in Win7.

Out of interest I downclocked my card to 850/1200MHz from the normal 875/1225MHz:
