Hi,

I can't run any programs that try to install vcredist.exe because it won't install on my computer.

Vcredist doesn't give me any error message, it simply fails to install.

When I try to install .Net Framework 3.5 I get the following:

[06/02/08,18:12:02] Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS): [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS). MSI returned error code 1
[06/02/08,18:12:03] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS) is not installed.
[06/16/08,17:00:29] Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS): [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS). MSI returned error code 1
[06/16/08,17:00:30] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS) is not installed.
[06/16/08,17:11:39] Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS): [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS). MSI returned error code 1

I am pretty sure this is all related to a registry hack I did a long time ago to play a PC game called "The Witcher". Unfortunately I can't remember the hack I had to do for that game, something involving side-by-side configuration.

So my questions is, is there a way I can return to default Vista settings for everything related to .Net and vcredist.exe?

If you have the installation disk you can run a 'repair' without effecting your data..

Actually no I don't have the disk.

I have an HP Pavilion Media Center m8150n. I don't believe it came with any disks.

Any suggestions?
