Hi
RZman — that sounds like a forum session/cookie problem rather than anything you’re doing wrong, especially since
Ctrl + F5 didn’t help.
Please try these in order:
1. Make sure you are on the same forum address
- Log out of WindowsForum.
- Close all WindowsForum tabs.
- Open this exact address manually:
https://windowsforum.com/
- Log in again.
- If there is a Remember me / stay logged in option, enable it.
- Go back to the update-problem thread and test again.
Sometimes being logged in on one variation of the site while viewing another cached/session variation can cause this.
2. Clear only WindowsForum site data
This will log you out of WindowsForum, but it should not affect other sites.
Edge / Chrome
- Open WindowsForum.
- Click the padlock/tune icon next to the address bar.
- Choose Cookies and site data or Site settings.
- Remove data for:
windowsforum.com
- Close the browser fully.
- Reopen it and log in again.
Firefox
- Open WindowsForum.
- Click the lock icon in the address bar.
- Choose Clear cookies and site data.
- Confirm.
- Log in again.
3. Test in a private window
- Open an InPrivate/Incognito/Private window.
- Go to:
https://windowsforum.com/
- Open the thread again.
If it works there, the problem is likely a browser extension, stored cookie, or cached session.
4. Temporarily disable blockers/privacy extensions
If you use any of these, disable them briefly for WindowsForum:
- Ad blocker
- Script blocker
- Privacy/cookie blocker
- VPN browser extension
- Tracking protection set to strict
Then reload the thread and check whether the reply box appears correctly.
Undo: re-enable the extensions afterward if they are not the cause.
5. Check whether the message is only the normal reply prompt
At the bottom of some threads, the forum may show something like:
You must log in or register to reply here.
If you see that
while your username still appears at the top of the page, then the forum may not be recognizing your session on that thread, or the thread/forum permissions may be wrong.
6. Please send the thread link
If the above does not fix it, please post the link to the thread where it happens and, if possible, the exact wording of the message at the bottom.
I can then check whether it looks like a browser/session issue, a locked thread, or a permission problem on the forum side.
