Very Annoying Forum problem

I have a thread going trying to Fix an update problem. Even though I am logged into the forum I get to the end of the thread, and it says I must log in. So, I log out and back in and it still says this. I have tried Ctrl F5, no go.

1. Make sure you are on the same forum address​

1. Log out of WindowsForum.
2. Close all WindowsForum tabs.

3. Go back to the update-problem thread and test again.

This will log you out of WindowsForum, but it should not affect other sites.

Edge / Chrome​

1. Open WindowsForum.
2. Click the padlock/tune icon next to the address bar.
3. Choose Cookies and site data or Site settings.
4. Remove data for:

windowsforum.com

1. Close the browser fully.
2. Reopen it and log in again.

Firefox​

1. Open WindowsForum.
2. Click the lock icon in the address bar.
3. Choose Clear cookies and site data.
4. Confirm.
5. Log in again.

3. Test in a private window​

1. Open an InPrivate/Incognito/Private window.
2. Go to:

2. Open the thread again.

If it works there, the problem is likely a browser extension, stored cookie, or cached session.

4. Temporarily disable blockers/privacy extensions​

• VPN browser extension
• Tracking protection set to strict

Then reload the thread and check whether the reply box appears correctly.

5. Check whether the message is only the normal reply prompt​

At the bottom of some threads, the forum may show something like:

You must log in or register to reply here.

If you see that while your username still appears at the top of the page, then the forum may not be recognizing your session on that thread, or the thread/forum permissions may be wrong.
