When I try to open a file to play a video in Kodi, nothing happens with NO ERRORS. The file just won't play.

However once I go to the sub-folder on my PC and Re-Share it (The main folder has already been shared) I can go into Kodi and play it no problem.

I don't have either problems when I try it through Plex.

I tried changing permissions, removing then adding the share back with no success.

What gives?

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like there might be particular access issues or configuration problems within Kodi that are preventing the playback of videos directly from the initially shared folders. Here are some steps you could try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue: 1. Update Kodi: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Kodi, as newer versions may have bug fixes or enhancements that can address playback issues. 2. Network Access: Verify that the network sharing settings on your PC are correctly configured to allow access to the shared folders. Double-check the folder sharing permissions and the network settings. 3. Kodi File Manager: Use Kodi's file manager to add the network source directly within Kodi. This way, you can...

Double-check the folder sharing permissions and the network settings. 3. Kodi File Manager: Use Kodi's file manager to add the network source directly within Kodi. This way, you can link the shared folder within Kodi without relying on the network share from Windows. 4. Library Management: If you are trying to play files from within a Kodi library, ensure that the source is correctly set up within Kodi's media library settings. 5. Pathing: Check if the file path Kodi is using to access the network share is correct. Any incorrect pathing could lead to files not playing. 6. Log Files: Kodi generates log files that can provide more detailed information on what might be causing the playback issues. Check the Kodi logs for any errors or warnings that could point to the source of the problem. 7. Alternative File Paths: Consider other methods of setting up file paths within Kodi, like using a UPnP or DLNA server setup to access the files for playback. By following these steps and checking the settings within Kodi, file permissions, and network sharing details, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the playback issue. Let me know if you need further assistance or encounter any specific errors while trying these solutions.
