Error code: 81000306

I am sure my firewall is not blocking windows live messenger, but I do have a wireless connection. Could that be causing the problem? Or could it be a different issue. I have un-intstalled and re-installed live messenger a number of times but with the same problem. I have troubleshooted after live messenger failed to sign me in and everything is working fine apart from the wireless section of it.

Regards,
Georgina.

While you've mentioned that you're sure your firewall isn't blocking Windows Live Messenger, having a wireless connection could indeed be a factor in this problem. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue: 1. Check Wireless Connection: - Ensure that your wireless connection is stable and working properly. Try connecting to a different network to see if the issue persists. - Verify that you have a strong and stable wireless signal. Weak signals can lead to connection problems. 2. Restart Your Router: - Sometimes, simply restarting your router can resolve connectivity issues. Power off your router, wait for a minute, and then power it back on. 3. Update Wireless Drivers: - Outdated or corrupt wireless drivers can cause network issues. Update your wireless network adapter drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer's website. 4. Reset TCP/IP Stack: - Resetting the TCP/IP stack can help resolve network issues. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:
Code:
 netsh int ip reset
5. Check Proxy Settings: - Ensure that there are no proxy settings configured that might be interfering with your connection. Disable any proxy settings if present. 6. Try Wired Connection: - If possible, connect your device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to the wireless connection. 7. Disable Third-Party Security Software: - Temporarily disable any third-party security software to check if it might be blocking the connection to Windows Live Messenger. 8. Verify Windows Live Messenger Settings: - Double-check the settings in Windows Live Messenger to ensure there are no configuration issues causing the sign-in problem. These steps should help you diagnose and potentially resolve the issue with Windows Live Messenger sign-in. If the problem persists, further troubleshooting might be necessary.
