Solution
When the shell integration for creating different types of files or shortcuts is broken on the C drive, it can be quite frustrating. This issue might occur due to various reasons, including software conflicts, registry errors, or incorrect settings. Here are some potential solutions to try and restore the broken shell integration on the C drive:
  1. Check for Viruses or Malware: Run a full scan of your system using a reliable antivirus program to ensure that the issue is not caused by malware.
  2. System File Checker: Use the System File Checker tool to scan and restore missing or corrupted system files. Here's how to run it:

    • Enter the command sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • Wait for the scan to complete.
[]Check Registry Settings: Changes or errors in registry settings can impact shell integration. However, modifying the registry can be risky, so proceed with caution.
    • Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
    • Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in the Registry Editor.
    • Check if the necessary entries for file types are present.

]Reset Default Programs: Resetting the default programs for different file types may help restore the shell integration.
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps.
    • Click on "Reset" to reset the default apps.
[]Use Third-Party Tools: There are tools like CCleaner that can help repair file associations and restore shell integration. []Command Prompt: You can try running the following commands in Command Prompt:
    • regsvr32 /i shell32.dll: Register the shell32.dll library.
    • regsvr32 /i browseui.dll: Register the browseui.dll library.
[]System Restore: If the issue started recently, consider using System Restore to revert to a point where the shell integration was working correctly. []Third-Party File Managers: As a temporary solution, you can use third-party file managers like Total Commander or FreeCommander until the issue is resolved. Try these steps to see if they help in restoring the shell integration for creating different types of files on the C drive. It's advisable to create a system restore point before making any significant changes to your system.
