Windows XP Why Windows Movie Maker always crashes very time I try to save a project?

I need to rip some DVDs to mp4 with Windows Movie Maker, but when I click save and save as, it automaticly shut down. How to fix this problem?

Yeah Windows Movie Maker also did that a lot for me. I used it for making some DVD movie , but it always crashed. I have waste losts of my time and get no idea to fix the problem.
