Windows Vista Wi-Fi crashes Vista, Help!!!

Hello,

When I turn on my wi-fi (I have a Compaq Presario R3000 and a Broadcom 800.11.b WLAN card which is internal) Vista completely freezes.

When I press the button again (as if to turn wi-fi off) Vista works fine again.

Vista has recognised and installed the card, I just cannot seem to use it, does anyone have any ideas?
