hi i have networked a windows 7 computer to my windows xp laptop and when i am connected to the router directly and all the other computers being switched off, i see that the amount of neyworks packets being sent is quite a lot, even if i am not accessing the internet.

i have comodo firewall and a netgear wired router which i am currently connected to.

any ideas what might the problem be?

it is connected to the internet, my other pc desktop is connected to the net but it does not have this problem.

It is not unusual at all, there being a few reasons for such behavior, like the ISP may be checking to see if the connection is idle in order to disconnect you or reassign the IP to someone else, etc.

Not unusual, I personally keep getting those packs even when only my machine is connected to internet and other pcs in the network are down.
