I had VISTA on my laptop and is was "working" normally, I got the final release on win7 in the my monthly update from MS and proceeded to install it. All went according to plan and it seemed to be ok. Ran the updates joined the domain and installed our AV. Now here is where the problem starts, it does not authenticate properly all the time, sometimes it does and other it just sits there saying authenticating and does nothing and of course I can't access jack. This was not the case in the beta however I did see this in the RC1 release and proceeded to dump 7 in hopes this would be fixed and of course it seems it's not. Anyone else seen this issue?

It seems like you're experiencing authentication issues on Windows 7 after upgrading from Vista. Authentication problems can be quite frustrating, especially when they occur inconsistently. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Check Network Settings: - Ensure that your network settings are correctly configured. Check if your network adapter drivers are up to date. 2. Check Domain Settings: - Verify that the domain settings are correctly configured. Make sure the computer is properly joined to the domain. 3. Antivirus Software: - Temporarily disable the antivirus software to see if it might be causing the authentication issues. Sometimes security software can interfere...

Antivirus Software: - Temporarily disable the antivirus software to see if it might be causing the authentication issues. Sometimes security software can interfere with network communications. 4. Windows Updates: - Make sure that all Windows updates are installed. Updates often include patches for known issues that might affect authentication. 5. Event Viewer: - Check the Event Viewer for any error messages related to authentication failures. This can provide more insight into what might be causing the issue. 6. Network Troubleshooter: - Use the built-in Network Troubleshooter in Windows 7 to diagnose and fix network-related problems. 7. Reset Winsock and TCP/IP: - Resetting Winsock and TCP/IP can sometimes resolve network connectivity issues. You can do this using the command prompt with administrative privileges. 8. Group Policy Settings: - Check group policy settings related to network authentication. Ensure that there are no conflicting policies causing authentication problems. 9. Revert to Vista (if possible): - If the issue persists and is causing significant disruptions, consider rolling back to Vista to see if the problem lies specifically with the Windows 7 upgrade. If none of these steps resolve the authentication issue, it might be helpful to delve deeper into specific error messages or behaviors that occur during the failed authentication attempts to pinpoint the exact cause. Additionally, checking online forums or Microsoft support for similar reported issues might provide additional insights or solutions.
