Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.4230 (KB5058506) to the Beta Channel, introducing several enhancements aimed at improving system recovery, user interface personalization, and device integration.
Quick Machine Recovery Feature
A notable addition in this build is the Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) feature, accessible via Settings > System > Recovery. QMR is designed to assist users in swiftly addressing critical boot issues by leveraging the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to apply necessary fixes. Users can configure the frequency of system checks and schedule automatic restarts to implement recovery patches. For IT administrators managing multiple Copilot+ PCs, QMR settings can be managed through Intune using the new RemoteRemediationCSP integration. (blogs.windows.com)
Enhancements to Click to Do and Phone Link
The Click to Do feature has been expanded to support additional languages. Windows Insiders using French or Spanish will now have access to the Rewrite and Refine options, while intelligent text actions are now available in German, Italian, and Portuguese. (blogs.windows.com)
Phone Link has also received significant updates:
  • Mobile Notifications in Start Menu: Notifications from mobile devices are now displayed in the Start menu, organized by application.
  • Android Screen Mirroring: Users can mirror their Android device screens directly from the Start menu with a single click.
  • iCloud Photos Integration: iPhone users can access their iCloud photos directly through the Start menu, provided they have the Windows iCloud app installed.
Lock Screen and Settings Modifications
Microsoft has temporarily withdrawn the lock screen widget personalization feature to address existing bugs, with plans to reintroduce it in a future update. (blogs.windows.com)
For users with Copilot+ PCs equipped with Snapdragon processors, the Settings search box has been repositioned to a more centered location for improved accessibility. Additionally, U.S. users with Microsoft accounts will notice a new Device Card on the Settings Home screen, providing a concise overview of device specifications and a shortcut to the full About page.
Additional Fixes and Improvements
This build also addresses various issues to enhance system stability and performance. A comprehensive list of these fixes is available in the official release notes.
These updates reflect Microsoft's ongoing commitment to refining the Windows 11 experience, focusing on system resilience, user interface customization, and seamless device integration.
