Hi,

My copy of Windows just came today. It is an OEM version of Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium, and on the box it says it is the German release (I live in Germany). My question is, will I be able to choose to install in English? If not then I'll probably send it back.

If you have purchased an OEM version of Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium that is specifically labeled as the German release, you might have limitations in terms of language selection during installation. In many cases, the language of the installation media is typically fixed based on the version you have purchased. However, in some instances, there might be language options available during the installation process. Here are a few steps you can take to check if you can install Windows 7 in English: 1. Language Selection During Installation: When you boot from the Windows installation media, you should check if there is an option to select the language during the setup process. This option will allow you to choose English as the display language for the installation. 2. Product Key Language: The language of the product key often determines the language edition that can be installed. If your product key is specifically designated for the German release, it might be tied to that language version only. 3. Supported Languages: Windows 7 Home Premium typically supports language pack installations which can change the display language. However, this might not be the same as changing the base installation language. 4. Microsoft Support: If you are unsure, you can reach out to Microsoft Support for clarification on whether you can install Windows 7 in English with the German OEM copy you have purchased. If English language installation is crucial for you, it might be safer to confirm the language options before opening the product. Sending it back without opening it can help if you find out that it doesn't meet your language requirements. I would recommend checking the Windows installation process initially to see if English language selection is available. If not, contacting Microsoft support or the vendor for further guidance is advisable.
