I have a Toshiba satellite that was up until now running Linux, however running windows 7 before that, and I decided to switch back to windows. I originally planned on using a USB install, which for the most part worked perfectly. The installation process went without any errors, until after it installed the updates and rebooted to complete the installation. Whenever it rebooted, instead of going back to the installation screen to finish it like it should, it goes to a black screen with a blinking line at the top left corner. I figured this may be due to the bios configuration or the slot that the USB was in so I changed both to what other solutions had said, and it still did the same thing. I eventually found an old windows 7 install disk and used that, but it does the same exact thing as the USB. This is the first time it has ever done this, and as far as I'm aware other OSes can install perfectly fine. Any thoughts of how to fix this?

Solution
To resolve the issue of Windows installation not completing and leading to a black screen with a blinking cursor on your Toshiba Satellite, you can try the following steps: 1. Check Boot Order: - Enter the BIOS or UEFI settings on your Toshiba laptop and ensure that the boot order prioritizes the correct drive for Windows installation. The USB or DVD drive should be set as the first boot device. 2. BIOS Compatibility: - Adjust BIOS settings such as Legacy/UEFI mode and Secure Boot. Try switching between Legacy and UEFI boot modes to see if one gives a different result. 3. Disconnect External Devices: - Remove any unnecessary external devices (except the installation media) during the installation process. Sometimes...

Disconnect External Devices: - Remove any unnecessary external devices (except the installation media) during the installation process. Sometimes, external devices can interfere with the boot sequence. 4. Recreate Installation Media: - If using a USB drive for installation, recreate the bootable USB using a different tool or method to rule out any issues with the USB drive or the way it was prepared. 5. Check Hard Drive: - Ensure that the hard drive is detected properly by the system. You may need to check if the hard drive is functional and properly connected. 6. Windows Repair: - Boot from the installation media and choose the repair option. This might help fix any boot-related issues preventing Windows from loading correctly. 7. Installation Troubleshooting: - During the initial stages of the installation, ensure that you format the drive and create the necessary partitions for Windows installation. 8. Drivers and Compatibility: - Check if all necessary drivers for your Toshiba laptop are compatible with Windows 7. In some cases, certain drivers can cause boot problems. 9. Hardware Issues: - If everything else fails, consider testing the installation on another computer or checking for hardware issues like faulty RAM or hard drive. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the installation issue and successfully complete the Windows installation on your Toshiba Satellite.
