Hi, yesterday i intalled 7 on my ASUS G50VT-X1, it's running ok except by a little problem, after i put a DVD/CD in the drive it reads it for a few minutes and then disconnect the drive with the disc rotating inside it (it does not stop after a while), after that it does not appear in 'Devices Manager' and i have to shut down the PC because if i only reset then the bios hang because it can`t open the DVD Drive to look for a Bootable disc.

What is the problem? thanks.

I will shut down the PC now and then i post the DVD Drive specs...

EDIT: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50L ATA Device

It seems like you're facing an issue with your DVD drive on your ASUS G50VT-X1 laptop after installing Windows 7. This issue where the drive disconnects after reading a DVD/CD could be due to a variety of reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue: 1. Check Device Connection: - Ensure that the physical connection of the DVD drive to the motherboard is secure. Sometimes loose connections can cause such problems. 2. Update or Reinstall Drivers: - Go to the Device Manager (before the issue occurs) and check for any exclamation marks or warnings on the DVD drive. - Update or reinstall the drivers for the DVD drive. You can do this by right-clicking on the drive in Device Manager and...

Update or Reinstall Drivers: - Go to the Device Manager (before the issue occurs) and check for any exclamation marks or warnings on the DVD drive. - Update or reinstall the drivers for the DVD drive. You can do this by right-clicking on the drive in Device Manager and selecting "Update driver". 3. Check for Firmware Updates: - Visit the ASUS support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your DVD drive. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues. 4. Check Power Settings: - Sometimes power settings can cause devices to disconnect. Go to the Power Options in Control Panel and ensure that the settings are not turning off the DVD drive to save power. 5. Check for System Updates: - Make sure that Windows 7 is fully updated. Sometimes system updates can include fixes for hardware-related issues. 6. Test in Safe Mode: - Boot into Safe Mode and see if the issue still persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to third-party software or drivers. 7. Check BIOS Settings: - If the BIOS is hanging because of the DVD drive, check the BIOS settings related to boot devices. Ensure that the DVD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS. 8. Hardware Test: - If none of the above steps work, you may want to consider running hardware diagnostics to check if the DVD drive itself is faulty. After trying these steps, if the issue persists, it might be a hardware problem with the DVD drive itself. In that case, you might need to consider replacing the drive.
