We hear most frequently from our enterprise customers how much they value the advanced productivity, security, and device management capabilities in Windows 10. These capabilities are key factors that have led to 83% of our enterprise customers in active pilots and the commitment of one of the most security-conscious organizations in the world, the United States Department of Defense, to upgrade all of their devices to Windows 10.
In March, we announced a new service, Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, that will help enterprises detect, investigate, and respond to advanced attacks on their networks. Today we are expanding the preview program to a broader group of customers interested in testing and providing feedback.
In this next phase, we are providing access to the public preview to IT professionals and enterprise customers upon acceptance. As part of the program, you’ll get a chance to explore Windows Defender ATP service, simulate an attack on your endpoints and see how alerts and events are captured by the service. You can find more information and request enrollment on the Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection product website.
Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection builds on existing security defenses Windows 10 offers today, and provides an additional post-breach layer of protection to the Windows 10 security stack. With a combination of client technology built into Windows 10 and a robust cloud service, it will help detect threats that have made it past other defenses, provide enterprises with information to investigate the breach across endpoints, and offer response recommendations.
The service is already live with early adopters that span across geographies and industries, and our entire Microsoft network, making it one of the largest running advanced threat protection services – already protecting more than 500,000 endpoints. Just like we developed Windows 10 with feedback from millions of Windows Insiders, we will continue to work with our enterprise customers to address their biggest security challenges, including attack investigations and day-to-day operations, to test our service in their environments and gather their feedback.
We encourage our customers to upgrade to Windows 10 to take advantage of all of the productivity, security, and management capabilities availability today, and be prepared for Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection when it becomes available more broadly later this year.
