Windows 7 windows live email contacts gone

yesterday my contact list disappeared. did everything i could think of then did system restore and it came back gone again.
says i have no restore points.
it won't let me add them again either.
have no idea what i did.
frustrated going to bed.
 
Hi Norma,

try this:

Go to start - in the search bar type:

%userprofile%\contacts

you should see your contact list there. Now export them to a file on your desktop. Open your live mail and import them

nothing there
it won't even let me put them in again.
it is like that part of windows live doesn't exist.
if i bring that up it is just an empty box not titles or anything.
frustrating i don't know if i did something i don't know what. aaaarrrrrggggg
 
Norma surely you have to sign into your Windows live account? If so then your contacts should be online? Also checkout this Microsoft help page: How do I import and export email, contacts, and calendars with Windows Live Mail? - Import Email Messages or Back Up and Restore Windows Live Mail you might see/read something that helps..

No when i click to open a box come up to sign in to windows live mail the compuer is about 3 years old and all i have ever done is click on the red x and then windows mail will open.
